Rental Periods

Absolutely, most any arrangement can be made, depending on the size of the group and the season.

Because we are a private facility, plenty of time will be allowed for your gathering; determined by a discussion between you and your hosts.

All outside events (with music) must conclude by 10pm; after that please move party inside.

Please note that we no longer allow events such as weddings and the like.

What to Bring?

All linens are provided. We do recommend bringing appropriate ranch/wilderness footwear, bathing suits, sports clothing, your favorite DVD to watch, etc…

No, we do not have a liquor license; however, you can bring your own or have your licensed caterer provide it.

Yes, we have a laundry room on the main floor. There are two washers and two dryers.

Generally no; however, you can bring your own or have your licensed caterer provide it. If you wish, we can arrange these for you as well.

Rental Provisions

Generally, rental companies must drop off and pick up equipment with-in the set up and clean up hours, unless otherwise arranged with Ranch Magdalena staff.

Tents larger than 400 square feet may require a permit from the county of San Diego. Renter is responsible for obtaining and paying for any necessary permits and/or fees.

Renter is responsible for set-up/removal of all rental equipment and decorations.

Nails, staples and tape are not allowed to be attached to any structure or living plant.

Caterer is responsible for all food/beverage clean up and removal of items brought in.

Decorations or rentals may not be stored at the Ranch, prior to the event, unless arrangements are made with Ranch staff.

All rental equipment, tables, chairs, dance floor, etc. must be removed from lawn areas and set aside at conclusion of event, unless arrangements are made with Ranch staff.

Please note that events such as Weddings and the like are no longer allowed at Rancho Magdalena.

Alcohol Guidelines

All service and consuming of alcohol must terminate 1 hour prior to event close; to allow drivers to prepare to leave.

If serving alcohol, a pre-approved licensed and insured beverage service or Caterer with a license to serve alcohol and required insurances must be used.

Serving of alcohol to those under the age of 21 is a violation of state law and violators will be escorted off the property.

Private Home Considerations

Yes, please remember that the Ranch is a private home, located in a residential area. Thus, be considerate with regard to music and noise levels, park on our property only (plenty of spots for a hundred vehicles plus), and be cognitive and respectful of the wildlife and environment.

Each event is tailored specifically to your needs. Set up and clean up can be provided or you may participate to whatever extent you wish; other than the general cleanup covered by your clean up fee provision.


Bedrooms do not have telephones but most have satellite television, VCR’s and DVD players.

Yes, we have free internet access available in almost all locations. We are on a satellite system so its speed is somewhat on the slow side; but, there are hard wired desktops available too.

Yes, we have free fax/copy services up to 20 black and white pages a day. More quantities are available for a reasonable cost per your request.

Yes, but you will need to bring the proper cabling to connect to the front of the VHS recorder.
